Section 34 - Gaming Permits

Amusement with Prizes Machines (AWPs) require a Gaming Permit (in addition to a licence which is usually provided by the machine operator).

With effect from 24th November 2005 the responsibility for the grant/renewal of section 34 (s34) Permits under the Gaming Act 1968 transferred from Magistrates Courts to Licensing Authorities.

Permissions granted by Licensing Justices prior to 24th November 2005 will remain valid after that date and will only need to be renewed by the relevant Licensing Authority when they expire.

The renewal of permits require one month's notice and, providing the application is made one month before expiry, there will be an automatic extension until the renewal application is decided.

An application for the grant of a s34 permit will be required for any change of Premises Licence Holder after 24th November 2005.

If you require more information regarding Gaming Permits, you are invited to complete our on-line Enquiry electronic form, or contact either Graham Dove or Michael Smart (Tel: 01797 253333)
