Regulated Entertainment

Regulated Entertainment, subject to specified conditions and exemptions, includes:

Provision of regulated entertainment

  • a performance of a play
  • an exhibition of a film.
  • an indoor sporting event.
  • a boxing or wrestling entertainment.
  • a performance of live music.
  • any playing of recorded music.

Provision of entertainment facilities:

  • making music
  • dancing

Note: The "two in the bar" rule permitted by the Licensing Act 1964 no longer applies. Any musical event (other than Morris Dancing) is a licensable activity under the 2003 Act.

In order to add or extend the provision of Regulated Entertainment or Entertainment Facilities to a Premises Licence an application to Vary that licence is necessary.

If you require assistance in applying to Vary a Premises Licence to include or extend Regulated Entertainment or Entertainment Facilities, you are invited to complete our on-line Enquiry electronic form, or contact either Graham Dove or Michael Smart (Tel: 01797 253333)
